Shelby County – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is rolling out 45 new patrol vehicles and they come with new technology – state-of-the-art lighting systems specifically designed so they won’t blind oncoming traffic at night.
The new patrol cars can sync their light patterns during a chase or emergency response, creating a unified signal that reduces confusion for other drivers on the road. The system adjusts to the environment automatically, freeing deputies to focus on driving safely rather than manually toggling controls. The vehicles also feature updated side striping that is more reflective at night, a visibility upgrade the sheriff’s office says is intentional.
