CPD officers approved for new duty firearms replacement by the Childersburg Council

Childersburg – The Childersburg Council approved the purchase of eighteen Glock 45 duty firearms with accessories from GT Distributors, Inc. The net amount, $14,082, includes trade-in of current firearms, which will be made available to officers in a buyback program from the company. The costs for the new duty firearms will be paid from Fund 10 – Tip Fund from donations to the department.

A pair of other Police Department requests were approved:

Chief Kevin Koss was approved to attend the 2026 Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) Summer Conference. That event will take place August 3rd through the 6th n Orange Beach. The approved costs include $200 registration, AACOP lodging rate for four nights, per diem, and use of a city vehicle.

The Council approved a $50 per month phone allowance to the Police Investigator, who is on-call 24/7.

The Street Department was approved to hire Russell Brown as a full-time, permanent department equipment operator at a rate of $12 per hour, pending a background check.

The Council gave approval to advertise with the Childersburg Quarterback Club in the amount of $300, paid from Fund 23.

Approval was given to pay invoices in the amount of $192,053.78.

The next regular Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at 6:00 p.m., with a work session scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
