Vehicles, computers, and CPD requests dominated Tuesday Childersburg Council meeting

Childersburg – Action during the Tuesday morning Childersburg Council meeting involved vehicle moves, computer software and accessories, along with requests from the police department.

Resolution 2026-15 was approved to declare a 2004 Ford Excursion (#1163) as surplus – no longer needed for municipal use.

The Council also approved the transfer of a 2007 Ford Pick-up (#0356) from Parks and Recreation to the Street Department.

Approved for the police department was the purchase of a Dell Latitude Laptop Cradle for a 2026 CPD Ford Interceptor Explorer in the amount of $740.

Municipal Support Solutions was approved to install Windows 11 Pro Computer for City Hall Payroll office upgrade, at a cost of $1,125, paid from Fund 08 – Alabama Trust Fund.

A police department request to purchase battery upgrades for police hand held radio equipment from Motorola was approved at a cost of $2,691.74.

The Council approved Johnny Swain to repair asphalt to protect the operation of the electronic entrance gate at the Police/ Judicial Building Complex, as a cost of $2,200.

Approval was given to pay invoices in the amount of $326,687.95,

The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd, following a 5:30 work session.

Miss Hamilton’s Teen Josie Harrison was introduced by Mayor Ken Wesson prior to the meeting. As a platform project, Harrison organized a Glow in the Dark Pickleball Tournament to rise funds for the Childersburg Senior Center programs. The Sylacauga High student raised $750 for the Center with her project.

Mayor Wesson praised the efforts of the City Hall & Senior Center Staff in collecting door prizes and decorating for the 2026 Senior Fish Fry event earlier this month, “It was a lot of delicious fun for our seniors and the community as a whole. Everyone looks forward to it.”

Wesson also reminded everyone that Childersburg’s annual Memorial Day observance will be at 10:0 a.m. on Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day, led by the Post 68 of the American Legion in Childersburg.
