Childersburg – After a vehicle went down for the Childersburg Fire Department, the City Council found a replacement – the Mayor Administrative vehicle, a 2023 Ford Expedition, which the Council transferred to the department.
Then, the Council approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford Expedition from Stivers Ford from the state bid list. It will be assigned as the Mayor Administrative vehicle, paid for from Fund 23 in the amount of $64,116.
The Council approved Johnny Swain to address a serious erosion issue that threatens to washout a section of Riverside Drive. Swain will affect road repair, along with the installation of curbing to eliminate future erosion. The cost was approved in the amount of $4,500, paid from the Fund 04 Gas Tax Account for road repair.
Approval was given for the Rainwater Library to advertise for a part-time temporary library assistant.
The Council approved a request from the Senior Center to purchase a stand-up freezer, not to exceed $800 in cost.
Approval was given to purchase a full-page color ad in The Daily Home’s First Responder Edition on May 23rd at a cost of $500.
The Council approved payment of invoices in the amount of $76,966.09.
The next regular meeting of the Childersburg Council will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. with a work session at 10:30 a.m.
Mayor Ken Wesson announced that the annual Senior Center Fish Fry will be held at the Limbaugh Community Center, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15th.
