Pell City – Around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning (5/1), Pell City Fire Chief Jerry Dailey says his department got a call on a possible fire at Coosa Valley Elementary School. He says fire crews arrived within five minutes of the call.
School officials say the fire was from an A/C unit that caught fire next to a classroom and there was no real damage. They say they took the situation very seriously, but were pleased with their emergency response.
“Why do we do the drills? Because accidents happen. In this situation, those practices that we had put in place took effect immediately,” said Superintendent Dr. Justin Burns.
