Weather cooperated for a steady crowd at the 2026 Grits Festival

Childersburg – In spite of the threat of rain, the 2026 Grits Festival enjoyed a steady stream of visitors to Kymulga Grist Mill Park over the weekend for the annual fund-raising event.

Partly cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures greeted guests as they shopped a strong line-up of over 40 vendors. A petting zoo included exotic animals like a camel and llamas. The lines were often long for the famous Grist Mill shrimp & grits, roasted corn, boiled peanuts, along with burgers & hotdogs fresh off the grill.

Parking was scarce in spite of many taking advantage of the free shuttle service from the Childersburg Recreation Department downtown. Congratulations to the Historical Preservation Committee and the many hard-working volunteers for a job well done.
