Riverside – St. Clair County will get $1.02 million in federal funding to replace the Depot Street Bridge in Riverside.
The funding was secured by U.S. Sen. Katie Britt through the fiscal 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act. Britt’s office said the Senator has secured more than $68 million for Alabama through the legislation.
The bridge was built in 1935 and has a traffic load of more than 1,000 vehicles a day, including school buses. The county says the bridge has no true guardrail system and is in need of replacement due to nearby residential development growth.
