Shelby County – According to court documents filed this week, a Shelby County man is facing a pair of felony charges of child abuse torture stemming from separate alleged incidents involving a child on a school bus.
The complaints were filed electronically against Dezmond Jabaris Turner on Sept. 17th in Shelby County District Court.
According to the first complaint, an incident allegedly occurred Aug. 31st that alleges that Turner grabbed a child’s head and slammed it multiple times against a wall of a bus.
A second complaint alleges an incident occurred Sept. 1st, when Turner allegedly slapped the child’s face with an open hand and placed his body weight on the child and was observed by a registered nurse passing by.
Both complaints list the charge as child abuse – torture, a Class C felony. The complaints state that investigators had probable cause to believe the offenses occurred, but do not constitute a finding of guilt.
