Moody – A Moody woman is facing a second-degree kidnapping charge after police say a 13-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Tuscaloosa was found safe along with another juvenile.
Moody police identified the suspect as Carmelita Arguijo, who was held on a $500,000 cash bond. Investigators say the case began with online communication. Police allege Arguijo picked the girl up at a gas station near Exit 144 on I-20 in Moody with the intent to travel across state lines. Both juveniles were later located in good health.
The investigation includes a mix of local, federal and state investigators – Moody police, the FBI North Alabama Violent Crimes Task Force and ALEA Internet Crimes Against Children agents. Moody police say they expect federal charges as the investigation continues.
