Alexander City – A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Alexander City, believed to have last been in the Sylacauga area, has now been arrested by the Alexander City Police Department.
The Alexander City Police Department announced it arrested 26-year old Laderrion Rodrigas Benjamin, also known as “Benji,” on a murder charge stemming from a homicide that occurred on Monday, Aug. 24 in Alexander City. He was booked into the Tallapoosa County Jail at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of J Street on Monday in response to call saying a person having been shot. When officers arrived, they found the body of a man identified as Marcus Deshawn Freeman, who’d been shot lying in the grass. Freeman was taken to Russell Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
