Auburn – Salem Volunteer Fire and Rescue report that one person is dead following an early Monday morning accident on Highway 280 East in the Salem community, just outside of Aubun/Opelika.
The crash, which occurred between Lee Road 183 and Lee Road 184 on Highway 280, involved a bike and a car. The bike rider was pronounced dead at the scene, near the Dudley Lumber Company in Salem. Eastbound Highway 280 lanes were closed in the area while emergency crews worked the crash scene.
