Kymulga Grist Mill Park hosts the annual Grits Festival on May 2nd

Childersburg – Make plans to be at the historic Kymulga Grist Mill and Park on Saturday, May 2nd for the annual Grits Festival for all sorts of family-friendly fun!

The yearly fund-raising event takes on added meaning this year with important repairs needed to shore up the Kymulga Covered Bridge, as well as the building that houses the Park Store. The Covered Bridge and the Grist Mill itself are both listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Besides those historic attractions, Kymulga Grist Mill Park also features over eight miles of scenic trails. Grits Festival Day will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with free shuttle buses running every twenty-minutes to the park from the Childersburg Recreation Center on 1st Street SW and back. Shopping includes the Kymulga Park Store, along with over 40 vendors with arts, crafts, and lots more unique wares. You’ll be able to enjoy delicious foods like the traditional Shrimp & Grits, Roasted Corn, Boiled Peanuts, as well as Burgers & Dogs fresh from the Mayor’s Grill House!

If you’re interested in joining the line-up of vendors, you need to contact Gaye Powell in a hurry at (865) 603-1036, because space is limited.
