Weogufka – Forty-four students from Coosa County’s Central High School participated in the school’s annual Flagg Mountain field day.
The students took a hike, learned about the Pinhoti Trail, tree identification, and map & compass instruction, along with the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps building of the stone lookout tower and cabins in 1935 as part of the New Deal’s job relief and conservation programs.
They even made time for a fun lunch as they grilled hot dogs, had Smores and made ice cream as part of their adventuresome day at historic Flagg Mountain.
