Sylacauga – The Sylacauga Farmers Market, which extended its summer season into September this year because of a banner growing season, has now completed that summer season with plans to return with a Fall Market in October.
The plan is to return the local farmers market to Central Park on Friday, October 16th, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and run four weeks, until Friday, November 13th.
The Market will also serve as a place for area seniors to use the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) cards from the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries.
The local farmers market program is administered by the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, a program to aid marketing of agricultural products from the farm to the consumer. This assures the consumer a better quality product at a reasonable price and a fair return to the producer by providing a convenient, dependable place through which producers and buyers to gather on a regular basis.
