Childersburg – With Labor Day around the corner, what better way better way to celebrate than by having your friends and family over and feasting on a barbecued Boston Butt? You do it the “no fuss” which supports the Childersburg Rescue Squad at the same time. But, be aware that Friday, Aug, 28th is the ordering deadline, and they usually sell out!
“With the cost of everything going up we are still able to keep the cost down to $45 per butt,” explained Gene Piatkowski, “You can pick up your orders after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5th at the Rescue Squad building, located behind the old Childersburg Police station.”
As a total volunteer organization, the Childersburg Rescue Squad depends on donations and fund raisers to cover their expenses. That includes annual insurance for three rescue trucks, three specially equipped rescue boats, a 15-passenger bus, three trailers, and a side-by-side ATV. In addition, they cover cover all of the maintenance costs for these vehicles and every drop of gas.
“This summer, we secured and dropped off health supplies to every school in the south end of our county to help prevent illness in the schools,” said Piatkowski, “Each school received an adequate supply of lysol spray, wipes, hand sanitizer, and refills. Our wish is for everyone to have a great and illness free school year. So far this summer, we successfully recovered two drowning victims thereby bringing closure to the families. We need your help.
