Auburn has a new Donahue Drive recycling drop-off center

Auburn – The City of Auburn moved into their new 24-hour recycling center on Donahue Drive. They accept all materials that are included in curbside pick-up along with:

  • Batteries – transistor only up to size D – no automobile, marine batteries, etc.
  • Cellular phones
  • Cooking grease/oil – pick up an empty container at the center and return it when full
  • Glass – separate by color and all items should be clean
  • Magazines/telephone books
  • Mixed office paper

The city is proud of its leadership role in recycling in Alabama. In 1987, the City of Auburn became the first municipality in the state of Alabama to introduce curbside recycling services to residential customers. A little over a decade later, the first Recycling Drop-Off Center and Compost Demonstration was established to provide citizens the opportunity to recycle 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
