
Hoover – Evan Lucas entered a blind guilty plea to five attempted murder charges in connection to a 2022 shooting involving a police officer in Hoover, and was sentenced to 25-years in prison.
Lucas was accused in a road rage shooting along I-459 that happened in October 2022. No one was injured, while multiple shots were reportedly fired at family vehicle. Later, police found Lucas and his vehicle at the Hills at Hoover apartment complex, where he exchanged gunfire with police. A Hoover police officer was shot in both arms and Lucas was struck in one of his arms, with Lucas eventually arrested after an hours-long standoff.
