Eastaboga – There is renewed hope among hundreds who lost their jobs at Legacy Cabinets’ Eastaboga manufacturing operation, thanks to a private job fair at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega.
Legacy permanently shut down its Eastaboga facility, leaving hundreds of employees without jobs and bringing the company’s more than three decades of business in the community to an end. Workers were informed on Saturday, June 6 that the company had ceased all operations at the facility on Legacy Blvd, making it their final day of employment.
Anxious over their job prospects, many of those out of work said they have new hope after attending the private job fair put together with assistance from the Alabama Department of Workforce and Talladega County Economic Development Authority.
“We’re there to help be a solution provider for them. To give them an opportunity for a new career path or maybe to advance their career path,” said Chance Jones with Central Alabama Community College.
And what those workers found was a new way of approaching their bad news after finding a wealth of opportunities, options for a better life and a better future.
