During the Grow More Give More 250 Pound Gardening Challenge, Alabama counties compete to raise 250 pounds of fresh produce to combat food insecurity and celebrate America 250, encouraging people across the state to donate produce to food pantries, community centers or neighbors in need through Labor Day.
The Opelika America 250 Committee has also transformed existing events, such as their reading challenge to also observe the nation’s 250th anniversary. They will show “National Treasure” at Food Truck Friday on July 17. Organizers will give out mini constitutions for people to take home.
