Shelby County – Shelby Ccounty leaders have approved the first phase of a manufactured home community expansion that planning officials said will help provide additional affordable housing options.
The Shelby County Planning Commission approved the first phase expansion of the existing Longmeadow West Mobile Home Park located off Longmeadow Road in unincorporated Shelby County near Alabaster.
The approved phase includes 31 new manufactured home lots on about 19.4 acres. The development is part of a proposed three-phase project spanning nearly 72 acres, which if ultimately approved, is expected to add a total of 123 new home sites to the existing community.
