Childersburg Kiwanis raises $9K during the “Ben Nelson 5K For the Children”

Childersburg – It was a successful Saturday morning for the Childersburg Kiwanis Club, raising $9,000 for Kiwanis Park, scholarships, and various other programs that focus on services for local children. The annual event was the Ben Nelson 5K Run/Walk For the Children.

Sylacauga’s Caleb Pollard took top honors with a best time of 21:20 for the road course through historic Childersburg. Kim Schmidt led the females with a time of 36:06. Besides the top finishers for men and women, others leading the way for their age group were: Rylan Knight (M10-14); Tyran Taylor (M15-19); Tyler Arnold (M20-29); Jason Taylor (M40-49); Pate Story (M60+); Jessica Vick (F10-29); Emily Butler (F30-39); Treasure Harris (F40-49).
