Elderly Sylacauga man was injured in a stabbing incident in his home

Sylacauga – An 80-year-old Sylacauga man was a victim of a stabbing in his home in the 800 block of North Main Avenue.

Brutally stabbed eight times, the man was able to make his way to his front porch, where he was spotted by a passerby, who contacted police. SPD officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to the call Wednesday. He was airlifted to UAB Hospital for treatment, where his is reported to be in in stable condition.

A person of interest was taken into police shortly after the crime a block away from the victim’s home, and taken to the Sylacauga Police Department for questioning. The incident is undergoing further investigation.
