Manhunt called off after chase ends in crash along I-20 in Moody

Moody – A manhunt near Moody Tuesday morning (3/24) has been called off, according to the Moody Police Department. Police say they believe the suspects stole a car and have left the area.

The Jacksonville Police Department says officers were alerted to an alarm at Edwards Grocery on Highway 204. When they arrived, the suspects were trying to load a safe into a car, but were not able to do so. There had been a forced entry through a window at the store.

The suspects fled the scene, and the pursuit went to Moody, where police say the car crashed between mile markers 144 and 146 on I-20 eastbound near Carl Jones Road and Village Drive. After the wreck, three people inside the vehicle jumped out and ran from the scene.

Police report that there is no known threat to the public. But, with suspects on the run, they’re urging people nearby to stay aware of their surroundings.
