
Shelby County – On Tuesday March 10, at the request of the Alabaster Police Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an officer-involved shooting investigation involving an officer with the Alabaster Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. when officers with the Alabaster Police Department attempted to serve an outstanding warrant at a residence located off Simmsville Road in Alabaster, located within Shelby County. Over the course of the incident, James R. McCarter, 44, of Alabaster, was struck by gunfire. McCarter was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No officers were injured.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
