
Oak Grove – With Resolution #647 on their agenda to accept the donation and transfer of real property from the Spring Creek Homeowners Association, the Council instead followed the advise of their City Attorney to reject the offer.
“ Even if it were legal for us to accept a road that doesn’t meet legal standards for road conditions,” explained Mayor Tony White. “I’d have a tough time voting to take on that road, knowing we’d immediately have tospend money to bring it up tp standard.” The Council member agreed, without even a vote on the Resolution.
In other Old Business, Adam Bassett accepted his nomination to fill a vacancy on the Board of Zoning and Adjustment. He was then formally appointed.
The Council authorized expenditures up to $10,000 regarding road improvements for Fleming Road.
In New Business, the Council approved Resolution #650 allowing the Volunteer Fire Department to establish a checking account to handle transactions relating to moneies from donations and fund-raisers. Speaking of VFD fund-raising efforts, the department has scheduled “Spring Fest” in the Town Park on Saturday, April 4th, with all sorts of vendors and actiovities for children.
Also approved was the authorization of expenditures for the Volunteer Fire Department, up to $2,768.19 to IIA Fire Department Testing for all department hoses and ladders. That’s an important annual record-keeping factor in the Town of Oak Grove’s ISO rating inspection.
Applicant Courtney Lockridge was approved by the Council to join the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
After reviewing the job descriptions fr the Senior Center, the Council voted to double the schedule of the Assistant Manager from two days a month at 6-hours a day to 4-days and a total of 24-hours a month at the same pay rate.
