
Sylacauga – In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Sylacauga has been chosen as a designated America250AL Semiquincentennial City. The formation of a local planning committee, lead by the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, is eager to execute the efforts in our community’s celebration of this historic milestone.
This committee is made up of community leaders, educators, veterans, business owners and civic volunteers who will help plan events and initiatives that celebrate America’s founding while highlighting Sylacauga’s unique story and rich heritage. We are excited to have been chosen to highlight the incredible sense of pride that the citizens of Sylacauga have in their community.
Both Talladega County Schools and Sylacauga City Schools have been named Semiquincentennial schools. From educational programs and historical exhibits to community celebrations and veteran recognitions, Sylacauga’s America 250 efforts will focus on honoring symbolizing a district-wide commitment to civic education and participation in the America 250 initiative.
America’s 250th anniversary gives Sylacauga the opportunity to celebrate our local story while reflecting on the values that unite us as a nation.
Throughout 2026, America 250 activities will be incorporated into city events and special programming across the community.
