
Ragland – A Ragland man, Kenneth Robert Thompkins, indicted in 2024 on a charge of attempted murder, has been found guilty of the charge of 1st Degree Assault by a St. Clair County jury. The charges stemming from a 2023 incident.
A November 2023 warrant for Thompkins’ arrest states that the date of the incident was Oct. 29, 2023. At the time of his arrest he was charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. The subsequent indictment states that the victim in the case was Daniel Cole Riley, who was shot with a rifle.
Sentencing for Thompkins is scheduled for March 26, when he faces 10 to 20 years in prison.
