Childersburg – At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, the Childersburg Fire and Rescue Department and Harpersville Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on 3rd Street NW.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, heavy fire was visible through the front windows and in the roof, with smoke seen from downtown Childersburg and U.S. Highway 280. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control.
The homeowner was transported by private vehicle to Coosa Valley Medical Center with minor burns and smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross notified notified to assist the displaced resident.
