Tuesday’s GCV Coffee comes with a big announcement from Childersburg’s Cadence Bank

Childersburg – Childersburg’s Cadence Bank hosted the February Greater Coosa Valley Chamber Coffee, announcing the pending acquisition by Huntington Bank.

“This is my 40th year with this bank,” said Branch Manager Diane Kay, “And I’m excited that we are joining 1,400 locations of Huntington Bank in 21 states, as we celebrate 160-years of the Huntington Bank legacy.”

Cadence will be working through the process until the end of June when the acquisition will be complete under the theme, “Continuing what matters, expanding what’s possible.”

“One of the things I’m most proud of at Cadence Bank is our Live Teller system. From 7 to 7, Monday through Friday and 8 to Noon on Saturday’s, our ATMs and Drive-throughs feature a live teller,” explained Kay, “Yes, this is a feature we will continue as Huntingdon Bank, along with our combined strength with the retail sector.”

In other community news during the monthly Chamber gathering, Childersburg Kiwanis will host their annual Kiwanis 5K Run-Walk on Saturday, April 18th, gathering at Kiwanis Park. The annual fund-raiser brings in around $6,000 for scholarships and in support of youth-oriented projects.

With diabetes reported at epidemic levels across the country, the Talladega County office of the Alabama Extension Service has put together an education and support program for individuals diagnosed with either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. The weekly series will get started in March.

Sus-R-Us announced that their new Highway 280 location in Childersburg is almost ready. The brand new state-of-the-art laundry facility will open to the public in March.

And rounding out the community announcements, there was a pair from the Chamber itself. The 2026 GCV Chamber Banquet is officially a sell-out, scheduled for Thursday, February 19th at the Limbaugh Community Center. The March 2026 Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Dove’s Landing Event Center, located at 100 Hagan Avenue at 8:30 on Tuesday, March 10th.
