Multiple events celebrate Mardis Gras in Talladega

Talladega – Talladega’s annual observance of Mardi Gras kicks off Thursday, February 5th at Heritage Hall with the opening reception for their Mardi Gras showcase, but there are plenty more facets on the schedule as well.

That showcase, “Visit with Royalty” is presented in collaboration with the Mobile Carnival Museum and made possible by a grant by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, to help celebrate Alabama’s Mardi Gras culture with the local public through February 27th. The opening reception at Heritage Hall is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

Then on Saturday, February 7th the celebration hits high gear in downtown Talladega, with the annual Mardi Gras Parade at 11:00 a.m. down Battle Street. That will transition to the historic Ritz Theater at 12:00 noon for a 3-hour Mardi Gras Party. It promises to be an unforgettable Party Gras celebration that will transport you straight to the heart of Bourbon Street.

Planed live entertainment will allow you to experience the vibrant sounds of New Orleans with incredible performances planned. There’ll be a great line-up of Cajun Food Trucks to satisfy your cravings with a variety of delicious Cajun dishes that will leave your taste buds dancing. There will even be a Bloody Mary & Mimosa Bar, too.

Hosted by the Ritz Theater, the Square becomes New Orleans style afternoon filled with fun, flavor, and fantastic entertainment that you won’t want to miss.
