Sylacauga – The State Health Planning and Development Agency has issued a Certificate of Need to Coosa Valley Medical Center to renovate the existing Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at the Sylacauga hospital.
Effective February 2, 2026, the Certificate of need allows CVMC to add five (5) geriatric psychiatric beds and establish a twenty (20) bed adult psychiatric unit at the Senior Behavioral Health Unit. This proposal is pursuant to Plan Adjustment PA2025-002 approved by Governor Kay Ivey on June 16, 2025 for Alabama Administrative Code R. 410-2-4-10 of the Psychiatric Care Section of the Alabama State Health.
The estimated cost of the project is $5,841,509.
