Auburn – Justice may be coming soon for a Homewood teen reported missing in Auburn more than six years ago. The suspect, Ibraheem Yazeed appeared in Macon County Circuit Court recently for a pretrial hearing as attorneys iron out the final details ahead of the March trial term.
Yazeed is charged with kidnapping and murder in the disappearance of Aniah Blanchard. Yazeed was initially charged in Lee County in 2019, where Blanchard was reportedly kidnapped, although her remains were recovered in Macon County. The Attorney General’s office was asked to take on the prosecution. Yazeed was indicted on three counts of capital murder in Macon County in 2022. The state is seeking the death penalty.
