The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) application portal is now open

Sylacauga – Senior residents are now eligible to apply for benefits through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.

SFMNP provides eligible older adults with benefits that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from approved farmers markets and farm stands, including the Sylacauga Farmers Market, Fridays during the summer months in Central Park, across from Blue Bell Creameries.

SFMNP provides eligible seniors with a $50 benefit card to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from certified farmers at farmers markets and farm stands in the state of Alabama. This program has limited funding and food benefits are available on a first come, first serve basis until available funds are committed. Seniors are encouraged to complete an application as soon as possible.

The only way to apply is through the portal by visiting https://agi.alabama.gov/farmersmarket/
