Rainwater Library’s new “welcoming” mural highlights the exciting new ways they serve the community

Childersburg – The City of Childersburg’s Rainwater Library is sporting a new look along downtown’s busiest street – 1st Street/ Highway 76 – thanks to a new “welcoming” mural across its north wall from artist Codie Davis.

Gaye Powell told us, “As a board, we worked with Codie and her assistant artists to develop a bright new look for a bright new day at the Rainwater Library. We’ve added a lot of new needed services, while we work to creatively expand what we offer for a wider range of citizens. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what we’re doing, and we invite you inside regularly to watch our continuing progress.”

Powel said that they’re pleased with the group effort for the mural, “I have to thank our board members for their input, and recognize the work done by Codie Davis, along with her assistant artists, Kristen and Ella Fields.”

Powell added that the next big facility project will be updating the lighting to set a new mood for the interior of the library. The Board is also working on plans for a “vibrant and engaging” kids section, that they anticipate will be a go-to site for the younger generation, that will also work closely with and support the new Head Start Center that kicks off the development of downtown’s ALICE Community Center.

“We need you, the community, to get involved to help us grow in the ways that matter to you and your family. We want you to stop by to experience the changes in our journey and to help guide us to being the library you want, with the services you need and will support.”
