Montevallo to host the Shelby County NAACP MLK march and celebration

Montevallo – For over two decades, the Shelby County NAACP has invited residents from across Shelby County to come together in unity while recognizing individuals who go above and beyond in service to others, as part of their annual MLK Day celebration.

The organization will once again honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with its annual Martin Luther King Jr. March and Program on Monday, January 19 in Montevallo.

The day begins with a march, with the line-up at 9:45 a.m. behind the Montevallo McDonald’s on Island Street. The march starts at 10 a.m. from the corner of Vine and Main Street, travel up Main Street, turn left onto Bloch Street and conclude at Montevallo High School.

Following the march, the MLK ceremony, a program featuring music, remarks and the recognition of community leaders from throughout Shelby County, will be held at 10:30 a.m. inside the Montevallo High School auditorium.
