Missing 4-year-old Johnathan ‘John John’ Boley found dead in wooded area in Walker County

Jasper – 4-year-old Johnathan “John John” Boley, who went missing on New Year’s Eve, was found dead Friday in a wooded area near his father’s home in Walker County. A grid search conducted by volunteers led to the discovery of the child’s body near a creek in a wooded area about two miles from his father’s home in the Thach community.

According to Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith, there were no immediate signs of foul play, and that it appears the boy wandered off while playing with his brother.

Members of a half dozen rescue squads from the Talladega County area assisted with the reescue attempt under severe conditions. Jim Dennis of the Childersburg Rescue squad said, “As Captain of the Childersburg Rescue Squad I want to say how proud I am of each one of our members. I am also proud of the dedication that Munford Rescue Squad and County Line Rescue Squad along with others displayed this week. We all were searching for a child in very bad conditions and with the threat of explosives that we are not trained to deal with.”
