Arrests have been made in Alexander City shooting death

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Police have made a pair of arrests in connection with a deadly shooting in Alexander City on New Years Day.

Alexander City Police officers responded to Parkway Court at approximately 7:40 p.m. on January 1st in reference to a gunshot victim, finding a black male, 29-year-old Jarryl Slaughter of Wadley, in the parking lot with one apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Russell Medical where he was later pronounced deceased.

19-year-old Marcus Harden of Eclectic was arrested Monday and charged with murder. A second suspect, Roderick Hicks Jr., was also arrested Monday and charged with First Degree Hindering Prosecution in this case.
